NASTURTIUM GREENS SMOOTHIE
I learned a lot co-teaching Cooking with Chinese Medicinal Herbs at the National University of Natural Medicine with my friend Ellen Goldsmith (Chinese herbalist, acupuncturist and author of Nutritional Healing with Chinese Medicine). She drove home that while many of us are hooked on our smoothie routine, cold and sweet puts a damper on digestion. This is especially detrimental in the morning when we need to heat the digestive system and wake it up. She says to add warming ingredients like ginger and cinnamon. I like adding those ingredients and also arugula, nasturtium greens, or a pinch of chili flakes. You can see me making the version with nasturtium greens and the ingredients listed below here.
